TGS' new data from offshore Greenland is now complete. Newly acquired data from Baffin Bay and NE Greenland is now available in time for the latest licensing rounds.

TGS, in co-operation with EMGS, is pleased to announce the availability of a 3D-EM survey over the structure of the Fylla East area in West Greenland. The survey is designed to help understand the hydrocarbon potential of this structure.

Data is now available for TGS’ Hoop Fault Complex 3D.

TGS has produced new geophysical products for previously acquired 2D data offshore Liberia. Both Kirchhoff and WEM pre-stack depth migrations have been created, as well as angle stacks to add to TGS’ data library for this very active region. The 2D data offshore Liberia is 9,382 km.

TGS in cooperation with Fugro Multi Client Services has final products available from the 2009 acquisition of the Mid Norway Regional, North Sea Renaissance and Norwegian Barents Sea Regional long offset surveys.

The 7th season of the Renaissance 2D seismic program in partnership with Fugro AS has now completed. Data is available now.

TGS has recently completed three new multi-client 3D surveys to complement our 2D long offset data. Firstly, the Hoop Fault Complex, situated in the Norwegian Barents Sea, the 2009 acquisition has been processed by TGS. Also, in conjunction with PGS, an East Shetland Basin and a North Viking Graben 3D survey. The data is now available.

The Hoop Fault Complex has multiple target structures with high hydrocarbon potential. The water depth in the area is approximately 400m. TGS has already conducted CSEM surveys over structures to be covered by the 3D.

The Ungava - Labrador Sea 2009 aerogravity and aeromagnetic survey (ULAG09 & ULAM09) is now complete. The survey provides valuable information of deep sedimentary basins in the Labrador Sea, and thus provides valuable understanding when planning future exploration activity in the area. This data is available now.

The Bureau of Minerals and Petroleum of Greenland (BMP) has announced a major bid round in the Baffin Bay Area. The deadline for submission of bids was May 2010.

The 2011 Atlantic Margin Licensing Round was announced on 16 June 2010 with applications due on 31 May 2011.  TGS offers a comprehensive database of both geophysical and geological products from this area.

The Norwegian 21st Licensing Round was announced on 23 June 2010. The Ministry of Petroleum and Energy (MPE) announced the 21st Licensing Round encompassing 94 blocks/parts of blocks, of which 43 are in the Norwegian Sea and 51 in the Barents Sea. For further details click here.

Somaliland’s first petroleum licensing round will remain open until the end of 2010. The bid round includes nine concession blocks comprised of more than 95,845 square kilometers of onshore and offshore areas. Awards are expected to be announced in 2011.

The UK 26^th licensing round is now open. On 27 January 2010, the Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change (DECC) invited applications, which were accepted up to 28 April 2010. 

The line of the month is from the Baffin Bay basins offshore Greenland and Canada. It is located over one of the deepest unexplored arctic sedimentary basins and the line displays very few of the significant four way dip closures seen in the region.

The Line of the Month is from TGS’ Greenland 2009 regional survey in Baffin Bay. This 2D prestack time migration is part of 15,000 km acquired in 2009 in this area.

TGS has an extensive library of 2D and 3D multi-client data offshore Liberia.

TGS' Faroe Shetland Basin surveys identify a number of possible hydrocarbon plays in designated and undesignated areas. 

This is an example from TGS’ North Sea Renaissance 2009 long offset survey West of Shetlands. It is over 135 km long and was acquired using a deep tow to enhance the image the sub-basalt section.

TGS-NOPEC's North Sea Renaissance program (NSR03) will provide long offset data that will cover the entire North Sea Basin on a regular grid.

TGS' line of the month is from the North Sea Renaissance long offset 2D program.

This Line of the Month is from TGS’ worldwide geophysical database and is one of the modern 2D 8km long offset lines from the North Sea Renaissance Survey (NSR). The NSR survey is now in its seventh season and we expect to have over 100,000 km of data available by Q4, 2009. This line is located in the Northern North Sea and has been designed to image the complete basin. Latest data imaging technologies have been implemented including SRME.

The line of the month is from TGS’ Hoop Fault Complex multi-client 3D survey (HFC09) in the Norwegian Barents Sea.

The Report has identified extensive stratigraphic trapping mechanisms in the Tertiary, structural/stratigraphic traps in the Cretaceous, established source rocks and proven petroleum systems.

This seismic line in an East-West direction is from the TGS-NOPEC survey KFW98 in the Norwegian Sea. The area is on the Tertiary inversion between The Ormen Lange Gas Field and the Helland Hansen Dome.

The Rås Basin and in particular the Cretaceous interval is a challenging task due to its severe noise problems. The bright set of reflectors in the centre left part of the line below is a sand prone interval (Lysing Sand). This is hardly visible on the original data or any other data from the same area.

Offshore Liberia is a vast unexplored region covering more than 100,000 km² - to water depths of 4,000 m. There were only 7 exploration wells drilled offshore from 1970 to 1985.

The Line of the Month is a prestack time migration from a TGS 2D survey off the coast of Liberia. Offshore Liberia is receiving significant interest, due to new oil discoveries in the region. TGS has 14,000 km of multi-client 2D data here.

The line is showing salt related structures in the Upper Jurassic-Cretaceous succession unconformably overlain by a Tertiary-Recent succession. A thick Lower-Middle Jurassic section, predicted to contain the main potential source rock interval in the Algarve Basin, is present below the Upper Jurassic salt.

The Northern Red Sea area hosts a classic triple junction of the Red Sea, Gulf of Aqaba, and Gulf of Suez rifted basins. The sedimentary succession here can be divided into prerift (pre-Miocene) and synrift (Miocene and post-Miocene) megasequences.

TGS-NOPEC has recently completed processing on its first major multi client 3D survey in the UK. The East Shetland Basin Survey (ESB-MC-3D) covers almost 1,000 sq km of licensed and open acreage, the majority of which is included in the UK 20th Licensing Round.

This Line of the Month is from TGS’ West Africa Regional survey offshore Ghana. This 2D prestack time migration is part of the 9,800 km acquired for this project.
