Gulf of Mexico - Deep Resolve 3D

The Deep Resolve 3D survey was designed and acquired to improve the image of the deep section of the continental shelf in the Gulf of Mexico. Drilling deeper in the subsurface (greater than 15,000' or 4600 meters) has been a focus for many oil companies since the US government offered royalty relief to those wiling to drill to the deeper depths.

The survey covers approximately 3200 sq miles (8500 sq kilometers) in the South Timbalier, Grand Isle and Ewing Banks areas of the Continental shelf.  Acquisition specifications included long offsets and long record lengths in order to improve the deeper section.  The acquisition of the survey included the use of and Ocean Bottom Crew (OBC) as well as multiple streamer crews in order to get the long offset coverage in a heavily obstructed area of the Gulf of Mexico.  TGS Imaging employed the latest in Pre-Stack Time and Pre-Stack Depth Migration in processing this data.  The example below is from the Pre-Stack Time Migration volume.
