This seismic line in an East-West direction is from the TGS-NOPEC survey KFW98 in the Norwegian Sea. The area is on the Tertiary inversion between The Ormen Lange Gas Field and the Helland Hansen Dome.

In front of the 17th Norwegian Licensing Round this area is regarded by many oil companies as one of the most promising. The 2D survey defines several structural closures and direct hydrocarbon indicators like flat spot, AVO-effect, and pull down.

Based on TGS-NOPEC's internal evaluation of the 2D data in the area, TGS-NOPEC initiated jointly with WesternGeco a 2000 square kilometre 3D survey which will be ready for delivery mid August 2001, in time for the 17th Licensing Round.
