SUMMARY:

TGS-NOPEC Geophysical Company of Houston, Texas, an internationally recognized seismic and well log acquisition, processing, and interpretation company, has a full-time position open for a Geophysical Advisor.

Location: 2500 CityWest Blvd., Houston, TX

The Geophysical Advisor’s primary responsibility will be to provide geophysical support to project teams in coordination with Research & Development.  In this role the incumbent will initiate the development of new technology and deploy new technology on a targeted basis as well as assist Imaging and Marketing with client meetings.

Job duties will include helping setup standard parameters, processing flows, testing and quality control procedures to improve quality and efficiency. Additionally, the Geophysical Advisor will work closely with the Prima ™ development team to assist in checking out new software, training, trouble-shooting and suggesting new tools and enhancements.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Master’s degree or higher in math, geophysics, or related degree preferred, but will consider a bachelor’s degree with the appropriate experience.
• 10 years minimum experience in R&D or seismic data processing.
• Experience with UNIX and/or Linux based software packages.
• Enjoys working in a team environment but can work independently.
• Strong background in geophysics and seismic data processing.
• Excellent problem solving skills and motivated to improve and maintain high quality while meeting deadlines.
• Prepare and present technical presentations to clients and internal personnel.
• Must be able to effectively interact with Marketing, Imaging, R&D and clients.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to work with little supervision.
• Experience with techniques to remove noise and multiples along with various time imaging technology.
• Familiar with tomography and depth imaging technology.
• Strong decision making abilities as well as intrapersonal and interpersonal skills.
